Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has been governed out of the remainder of the World Cup with a cracked thumb. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared on Wednesday.
Dhawan, previously scored 117 in the previous match that he played against Australia. Today he turns to Twitter to post an emotional message for every one of his fans.
“I feel emotional to announce that I will no longer be a part of #CWC19. Unfortunately, the thumb won’t recover on time. But the show must go on. I am grateful for all the love and support from my teammates, cricket lovers, and the entire country. JAI HIND!” Dhawan wrote on his twitter handle.
The polished left-handed batsman endured the damage while confronting Australia’s Pat cummins in India’s second match of the world cup at the oval.
Shikhar Dhawan continued batting and scored a century to win the Man of the Match Award, as well as led Team India to victory.
